Over £7,000 has been added to the fund for a permanent Motherwell fan's memorial for Phil O'Donnell following a well attended Sports Dinner at the Hilton Strathclyde. A great evening was had by over 130 Motherwell fan. Hosted by Tam Cowan, the evening featured two guest speakers in the form of Jim Duffy and Sheriff Lindsay Wood. | |
During the evening a raffle draw took place with numerous "money can't buy" given away with a Alex McLeish's signed Birmingham training tops, a Motherwell FC official matchball and a 12 month North Lanarkshire Leisure pass worth over £400. Jim Duffy was introduced as the first of evening's speakers and he recounted a number of notable moments from his playing and managerial career. Sheriff Lindsay Wood gave a memorable insight to the largest court in Europe and the legal profession in general before the auction got under way. Lots including a one year Setanta package and trip to a Setenta live match, Lee McCulloch's Scotland top worn against Italy and many other signed items attracted healthy bids. However, it was the Everton matchday package donated by Davie Moyes which attracted the most attention. While Motherwell FC's donation of a day for 6 at Fir Park for any match was also extemely popular, bring the total made from the auction up to around £5,000. The Trust would like to thank everyone who attended the event and the many clubs, companies and individuals who donated prizes for the event. |
