Biography
After being a member of the Motherwell Supporter Association and latterly the Trust Board, I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to land a role as Press & Media Manager at Fir Park in the summer of 2007.

The role has evolved, taking in some incredible highs such as qualifying for Europe twice and subsequent trips to France, Wales, Albania and Romania, grabbing third place in the SPL and winning the Clydedale Bank Scottish Premier Best Media Relations 2008/2009 Award to terrible lows such as the death of Phil O’Donnell, problems with the pitch and managerial merry-go-rounds.

I returned to the board of the Motherwell Supporters’ Trust in the winter of 2009 as club liaison, working with new chairman Joe Smith and the rest of the board.

Where do you sit at Fir Park?
When I was a paying punter it was the East Stand, Row D, Seat 126. Just in front of the last pole nearest the South Stand. Now I am at the club, the Press Box at the back of the Phil O’Donnell Stand.

What does your average matchday look like?
Busy! In at the club for 9am, getting the programmes to their respective area. Finalise the press list, ensuring everything is up to scratch. Make sure the proggy sellers are out and about in their proper pitch by 1pm before match preparations start. Team sheets are put together at 2pm and handed to the press shortly before kick off. Report on the first half for the official website. Half time is spent insuring essential food and hot drinks are given out to all the media in attendance. Report on the second half for the web again, before the real work starts after the game. First making sure our players and manager fulfill their press and media requirements.

Then hurry down to the Chapman to update the official site with the match report, pictures, reaction and other wee bits and bobs.
Usually get home by about 7.30pm and have to usually sit on the laptop adding other things before Match of the Day!

It’s a busy Saturday….

What was the first Motherwell game you attended?
St Mirren at home in 1986 but the first I can really remember with any great detail was the Scottish Cup Final in 1991.

Who is your favourite Motherwell player of all time?
Close one – Faddy is a close second to the one and only Martyn Corrigan

Who's your current favourite?
I have to say them all!

Best Motherwell game you've been to?
There have been loads but for raw emotion, the Semi Final of the CIS Cup back in 2005. FIZZY!!!!!!!!

Worst Motherwell game you've been to?
God, there have been loads! I think the worst is probably the 4-1 thumping at East End Park at the tail end of Maurice Malpas’ reign at the club. I had backed Mo all season but finally lost confidence in our ability to stay up in the after math of that game. Thankfully, Inverness Caley helped us out a week later!

Hopes for the team for the season ahead?
After the start, I don’t see any reason why we can’t finish in the top six. We’ve got a really talented bunch of players and a good manager. A bit of luck, at times, may be required but we’re certainly good enough to finish in the top half.

Hopes for the Trust over the next year?
After what looked like an impending doom, I am glad to see the changes that have been made and I am fully behind not only the concept of the Trust, but also the new chairman who has some great ideas. The next year is about consolidating after years on the slide, get people involved and enjoying the events that the Trust put on and start re-investing some of the money made back into worthwhile causes that benefit the club, the community and the supporters.
