The Motherwell Supporters' Trust board recently met with chairman John Boyle. With relations between the club and supporters strained it was an ideal opportunity for the Trust to take up the key concerns of the Motherwell support. During the 2 hour meeting a number of issues were discussed. The recent change to pricing policy had provoked a negative reaction from the Motherwell support. John Boyle was forthright in his explanation of events. He said that he had became increasingly concerned by the dropping attendances at Fir Park over recent seasons and felt that something needed to be done. He felt that the best opportunity to increase attendances and revenue was to encouage families to the games and appeal to the Old Firm fanbase which could easily fill large sections of the ground. It was noted that pricing is currently being looked at on a game-by-game basis. John acknowledged that the communication of the change of policy was not up to the standard which he expects, Indeed, the original communication to the fans via the official website was only an internal document for discussion. John also promised to write to all season ticket holders confirming what changes were being made. The club's new interim General Manager Leeann Dempster was also present on the evening and made a number of contributions to the discussions. The Trust board raised concerns regarding the catering kiosks, PA system, Cooper Suite and the Trust sponsored season ticket boards. In recent weeks, we have seen the re-introduction of the season ticket board around the ground and a major improvement in the PA system. Leeann is also working on a number of projects which she hopes will ensure a better matchday experience. The age old problme of fan communication was also discussed at length, the club are hopeful that a new Customer Management system will see a major improvement in the service offered to fans. The Trust are looking to monitor the changes in coming months and will take this up with the club in 2009. |
